Dr. Joshua Mauney received an RO1 grant (1R01DK131211-01A1) entitled “Drug Eluting Silk Fibroin Grafts for Repair of Long Urethral Strictures” funded by NIH NIDDK through December 2026 with an annual total budget of $651,834. The results of this proposal are anticipated to produce new tissue repair modalities that will overcome current limitations in urethroplasty by creating novel “off-the-shelf” silk fibroin grafts capable of urethral delivery of stem cell homing factors for reconstruction of long urethral strictures, as well as for repair of other urinary tract organs (ureter, bladder) in general.
